Late Night Dorienne

Wednesday, January 5, 2011 I got stuck working the late shift tonight when one of the other managers called in sick. Yay adulthood...

If you’ve never read Questionable Content, quit missing all the fun!

I heart QC

Tuesday, August 31, 2010 I discovered QC (Questionable Content) more than two years ago and right now, it is going through some super-awesome drama. It was the first webcomic I'd ever read and was just the start of a dozen more to follow. This was the first one I'd read. I didn't know what was going on or who the characters were, but it was this specific punchline that lead me into the world of webcomics.

Frontierville is destroying my life

Tuesday, August 17, 2010 It is truly taking it's toll everywhere in my life. It's not been this bad with any other game or obsession. It's time to take a hiatus.

Fading Euphoria

Thursday, August 5, 2010 Whether it's because my body is getting depressed from a lack of carbs or just the usual doldrums, the euphoria of grand new changes in my life has faded. I neither want to do anything or nothing. It's a sad state of being.

Wednesday, August 4, 2010 I've started reading Bleach again...and loving it! Note my hand made bookmark on which I've written my name in Japanese which reads: Sumisu Dorien

I can't see it,
sometimes – if I strain just right,
but I feel it against my skin, warm
when I'm cold, cool
when I'm not; it lies
heavy and strong reassuring me. Gold

against brown skin, it pulls
about my neck. So simple
and plain – it is
just two gold bars
lying across

one another. While I stride
in the light, the gift's shine is brilliant, catching
eyes with it's glint, yielding a pause
over the One
embodied. Yet
there is no glow, if I sit in the dark and
the smooth structure goes
unnoticed, unable to share

its story. Shower, sleep, walking, eat,
it moves
as I move and sees

what I see. So, basic and bare
a thing to be so
precious to me.

"At the Cross" by me

Gold against brown skin

Wednesday, July 28, 2010 I've worn a simple gold cross around my neck since I was fourteen. I've lost two (one randomly in the dorm, another flew off when my chain caught at the grocery store), but this one I've cherished most. Grandma chose the cross and my mother chose the chain; it is quite precious to me.

Enter Gringotts

Thursday, July 8, 2010 I had bought this coin bank in the midst of my Harry Potter fanaticism at age 18. I've sporadically added loose coins to it and it's now so full I can barely lift it. The worst part is I've no idea how to get out the money...

Friday, July 2, 2010 Love coming to Hoover at lunch...especially on a perfect, blue-sky day.

In the shadow

Thursday, July 1, 2010 "We were once like you," shouted the cut stalks to the growing ones. "Wave tall and strong now for your time will soon come."
